EnrolmentsEnrolling your child at IHK
Families may apply to Isabel Henderson Kindergarten and go on the waiting list at any time, keeping in mind that spaces fill very quickly and we often have a long waiting list. Applications are submitted online via the website prior to, or after a tour of the centre. We strongly encourage all families to arrange to have a tour of the kindergarten to make sure that you are observing the type of program your child will be participating in. During the tour you will meet the Director and/or Educational Leader who will answer your questions. This includes questions about kindergarten readiness, school readiness and transitions. Bookings for tours can be made via the website. Once an application has been received and $50 payment for the application fee, you will be placed on the waiting list and provided with a receipt. The date of your application is noted. In some instances there may be children who are bumped to the top of the waiting list (please see priority of access below). Families living in North Fitzroy are offered positions first. WE will make contact with families on the waitlist in Term 3 of the year before they start 3 year old kinder. At this point you are required to inform us of your intentions for enrolment, days preferred and number of days required however there is no guarantee. Further information below is provided on the enrolment process. NO enrolment is confirmed and approved until all the required information has been provided. If you have any questions regarding the application and enrolment process, please do not hesitate to ring the office on 9481 6152 during business hours, or email director@ihk.org.au admin@ihk.org.au Waiting List Isabel Henderson is a highly sought after kindergarten and demand continues to increase each year. Children can be placed on our waiting lists for 3 and 4 year old kindergarten from birth however it is important to note that IHK runs a two year kindergarten program, therefore the entry point is predominantly in our 3 year old program. When enrolling your child into a kindergarten program your child must be 3 years of age before commencing 3 year old kindergarten and must be 4 years of age by 30 April in the year of attendance at 4 year old kindergarten. Below is a guide to inform you when your child is eligible to attend 3 & 4 year old kindergarten.
Families on our waiting list will be contacted by email mid-year to confirm their preference for kindergarten sessions for the following year.
Places will be offered approximately two months later and families will be notified by email. Waiting list applications can be completed online here. Please note a waiting application fee of $50 is required payable per family (not per child). Payment can be made via Direct Deposit. 'No Jab No Play' - Children's immunisations All children must be immunised to attend both our 3 year old and 4 year old programs. Families are required to provide evidence of up to date vaccinations prior to beginning at IHK. Your child's enrolment cannot be confirmed unless evidence is provided. Families on catch up schedules as part of qualifying for the 16 week 'grace period', are required to provide IHK with documentation from a registered GP of the schedule to be followed. Children who have not commenced vaccinations within the 16 week time frame may be asked to withdraw from the program, depending on the agreement that has been made with families. Families experiencing difficulty with their child's immunisations are encouraged to speak with the Director. We are committed to working with families to help overcome any barriers to the enrolment process, including meeting the requirements for immunisations.
